The Path of Least Resistance

Last post we touched on being led by the sense of harmonic flow, as well as recognizing stress and anxiety as resistance. The resounding feedback has been enough for us to explore, together, the path of least resistance.

Consider this a reminder to reach out if a deeper dive is warranted. Chances are if you have questions, we all do. Growth for one is growth for all as we continue on this path together.

If life is a dance, then imagine the heartbeat of its rhythm as a river flowing beneath the cover of our awareness. The path of least resistance can be as simple as stepping off the bank and into life’s flow. What might it be like to be as fluid with our desired outcomes as the water is with the path that it follows? To be that which does not fight its way forward, but simply, flows. Can we imagine cascading around blockages, or with enough momentum, sweeping them along in our current? The water does not change its form or fight the nature of itself; it simply follows the path of least resistance.

We can too.

Beneath the layers of our own doings there is, if we seek it, an effortlessness flowing us toward something. We know better than to swim against the current, yet here, we can find ourselves fighting for what we think we want rather than floating as effortlessly as the water following the terrain. This effortlessness flows us along the path where we can be surprised at what life might offer us – beyond our wildest imaginings.

But being surprised requires a deeper sense of what some might call faith.

It’s faith that allows us to trust in the unseen and hold fast to the idea that we are held by something greater than ourselves. It’s faith that invites us to let go of the need to control outcomes (the very soul of misery) and attune, instead, to what unfolds naturally. Let’s be clear, the path of least resistance is not the absence of effort or action; but rather an invitation to act in harmony with the very currents of existence.

Within these currents is the opportunity to surrender our resistance, not with the white flag of defeat, but in recognition of the inherent wisdom embedded in their flow. Here we can trust life to its higher design and taste resistance as the metallic tang of fear on our tongue. Here we begin to understand how the idea of losing control, of not achieving, even the fear of not knowing – manifest into struggle, forcing and clinging to outcomes.

Faith is the flip side of fear’s coin. It is the raft upon which we float even as trouble churns the water beneath us. Faith, as the annihilator of resistance, reminds us that life’s intelligence far surpasses our own, subsequently pushing us further than we could have imagined with far less of the effort known as struggle.

With existential alignment, we step into discernment and knowing intuitively when to persist or pause. We can embody the energies of courage with a deep faith, perhaps in the unseen, but surely bringing it to shuddering life within our own selves.

That faith in ourselves.

The path of least resistance flows us, as the river flows inevitably to the ocean, gracefully to our soul’s destination.

Let’s take a breath here, stretch fully on our rafts and make a point to embrace this ride.
