It All Starts Here

Not a giant leap.

No.

Most days are grinds where we whittle our way ahead until the path is smooth enough to take bigger steps.

To take a riskier leap.

The point of this blog, The Everyday Mind, are the small steps. The ones that take us closer but feel like the end stays beyond reach. Where we’re consistently using the effort to move forward, but the destination remains just out of focus.

Step 1. Do we know where we’re going? Imagine the irony of standing by the cage watching the hamster run in its wheel and the little guy thinking at least he knows he’s on the wheel; it’s something he can see.

Yeah; we’re on the wheel. So let us learn to man that helm and not run until we can’t take another step forward.

It’s okay to not want huge change too. Then it’s:

Step 2. Find joy in moments. I am a lifetime equestrian and equine behaviorist. This puts me in the unique position to work in and root from the natural world. Temple Grandin very famously taught us that animals are constantly foraging to survive. Their beauty is in the fact that no matter that the foraging yields survival, they find joy, purpose and life force in the foraging.

Here is the lesson for their two legged friends. Though there are things that we must – can we find joy in the purpose, in the grind, in every  cropping of grass that ensures our survival?

This is The Everyday Mind.

Let us gather here, be challenged to notice, make adjustments and be mindful of minutes, then moments so we evolve.

Together.

I am Amy Carroll, welcome to small changes that we can live with. I’ll post about adjustments we can make within our own hearts and minds. Together, we’ll give ourselves permission, to excavate a joyous life.

Minute by minute. Hour by hour. Change starts now…
